It was billed as “Pavarotti in Hyde Park” but this concert commemorating the 30th anniversary of his career might just as well have been called “Pavarotti under the deluge”. 125,000 people attended the concert despite a non-stop rain to hear the 55-year-old tenor sing a selection of his favorite arias.
Accompanied by 82 musicians from the Philarmonia Orchestra and 120 members of the Philarmonia Choir, the concert brought together personalities of the time such as Lady Di, Charles of England, Andrew Lloyd Webber and actor Michael Caine.
