Teatro alla Scala, Milano
I Masnadieri
Giuseppe Verdi

The exploration of Verdi’s early operas continues with a new production of I masnadieri (composed in 1847 on Andrea Maffei’s libretto from Schiller’s drama Die Räuber for a London audience), to be staged at La Scala by David McVicar, one of the world’s most prestigious directors, who returns to the theatre after his successful co-production of Les Troyens with Covent Garden in 2014. Fresh from the success of Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice in 2018, not to mention a string of acclaimed Verdi productions and a densely packed international calendar, Michele Mariotti takes the podium.
